News - Baldur's Gate III: Test run for the big cross-play patch announced

Baldur's Gate III is scheduled to receive a final major patch including a cross-play feature in the new year - and it will be thoroughly tested in advance.

The top title Baldur's Gate III was provided with comprehensive updates by Larian Studios. Even though the development team is already mainly focused on its next project, there is still one last big patch for the RPG epic. Patch 8 is scheduled to be released in 2025 and will then also introduce cross-play as the biggest feature.

To ensure that everything works, there should be a larger test run for Patch 8 in advance. In this, players should first try out the new functions such as cross-play, a photo mode or the whopping 12 new sub-classes before they are released to all players.

If you are interested in trying out the innovations in advance before Patch 8 goes live for all gamers, then you canRegister now for this test run. This is scheduled to take place in January 2025.

The PC platforms supported in the test are Steam, Xbox and PlayStation - so no Mac or GOG. It is a stress test that is intended to help identify remaining instabilities and gameplay problems. In addition, it is far from an easy task to implement cross-play in a game the size of Baldur's Gate III.

Fans of Baldur's Gate III have recently been able to look forward to official mod support. This slightly different trailer presents the possibilities.
