The start menu in Windows 11 has remained unchanged since the release of the operating system. Apparently the menu is in an upcoming update on the collar.
As the user "Phantomofearth" explains on Bluesky, Microsoft is currently testing a greater revision of the start menu of Windows 11. The most important changes are designed as follows:
Larger and more flexible layout
The new start menu is larger and offers space for up to two rows with eight attached apps each. You can expand this view to make more apps visible at the same time.
Below the attached apps is a scrollable list of all installed programs that is directly accessible without a separate area to be opened.

Switch-off "recommended" section
One of the most criticized functions of the previous start menu was the "recommended" section, which was often perceived as annoying. With the new design you can (finally!) Deactivate this section completely and instead only display attached apps and the full app list.
Improved adaptation options
The new menu allows you to present apps in different formats: sorted as an alphabetical list, as a grid or by categories (such as productivity, entertainment). In addition, more apps can be attached at the same time, which makes the organization easier.
The revised start menu is currently available in Windows 11's insider builds - regardless of whether it is 23h2 or 24h2. However, you may have to use the features about thatViveToolUnlock if Microsoft has not taken into account you in the current rollout.
As soon as you have downloaded and installed the small tool, all you have to do is activate the respective feature IDs. In the Vivetool command line it is sufficient to enter "Vivetool /Enable /ID: Feature number" and confirm with the following IDs:
