A message from a friendAlmost cost me my steam account. This shows me how the fraud stitches are becoming more and more creative and credible. With my article I would like to show you how this fraud looked in my case and why you should also take a close look at messages from your friends in the future.

I got this message:
That notices:Here and there a few special features in the spelling are striking. That was a point that made me puzzling. I was quite sure that my friend didn't play PUBG at the time when I got the news.
However, it would have been possible that the message was real. And hey, I'm a nice one: Sure, I am happy to help. And to this point I would have that asMinimal effort and I can help a friend
filed. However, I then became puzzled at the pointThen log in as a steam
. On some tournament homepage to vote there? No, no.
A quick googling of the website shows that the website looks really real - but was simply copied from the original. Logging via Steam probably saves the user name and password of the Steam account, with which you connect there.
So I acted:I first got on the messageverify yourself with me
answered. But did not get an answer. That's why I wrote my buddy via WhatsApp and asked what the message was all about and that I feel that she does not come from him.
My friend thanked him and it turned out that a friend of him sent this message to him and he clicked on the link and logged in there. Afterwards his Steam account was apparently taken over and all people who had the online status on his friends list were written to the news from above.
After that, appropriate friends were blocked, apparently so that they cannot answer and the actual owner of the account does not suspect.
So you see, such a fraud can spread rapidly.
I recommend that:Generally be skeptical if you get links to your unknown websites on Steam or on other platforms. There is one for thatSteam's help page. In general, before clicking on a URL, it is advisable to send a question to the friend to make sure that the message really comes from him.
If there is no or a strange answer, contact the contact with another platform and asks if the message really comes from him.
A certain portion of skepticism should always be there in online communication, even with your friends.
What does the fraud bring? With your stolen login data, the fraudsters can do all sorts of nonsense. It is unclear whether you aim at unsafe accounts to give away games or maybe just sell the data to third parties.
