In my everyday PC life, which I mostly spend with my work for the games, I always have to transfer files from my main computer to one of the test systems. The reverse case or the way from the test system to test system also occurs.
In addition to a sufficiently high data rate, a compact form factor is also important to me if I am on the go, for example in our office to Munich. Good handling also counts for me. This is exactly where my new USB stick comes into play.
There Simple Reason:He not only has a connection, but two. One of them is the good old USB A standard, the other the newer USB-C version. It is the dual Quickstick of Verbatim in a size of a terabyte:

Why the two connections help me
My main calculator is now getting a bit old. Anyone who has followed Gamestar Tech and my articles and videos for a long time knows which housing I use: thatFractal Design Node 202.
- You can find exactly in my case in my case. Also recognizable there: It only has two USB A connections on the front.
- In my test systems, on the other hand, I prefer to use the USB-C standard. This is because in my experience he provides the highest data rates more reliably, even if the maximum possible speed at a USB stick does not differ between the two connections.
- In my often bustling everyday life, I even completed the feat of putting a data carrier with a USB-C connection in a USB A connection from the Node 202, which fits surprisingly well.
You can find out more about the misfortune mentioned above:.
My new USB stick makes it easier for me to prevent something like this. I also save it to use an adapter from USB-A to USB-C if I want to reliably transmit files quickly via USB-C.

Why I wouldn't get this stick again
As practical as I find my new USB stick, it annoys me in retrospect that I forgot to pay attention to an important detail when buying: the maximum possible speed.
- While the quick stick with USB 3.0 maximum values in the range of 500 MB per second reaches, there are also some (few) models with USB-C and USB-A connection on the market that come with USB 3.1 to approximately 1,000 MByte per second.
- Since I don't constantly use huge files, this is not a big broken leg. But if you want to buy such a stick, I recommend a model with USB 3.1, especially since you get it at similar prices to the quick stick. These include thePatriot Viper PVP30 Duo Compactor theSilicon Power DS72.
- Another advantage of these two models: While a cap is on the USB A connection on the Quickstick that I could lose, this does not apply to the PVP30 Duo Compact and the DS72.
If there is still a small, not so significant criticism of the verbatim stick: the movable cover for the USB-C connection with the eyelet is a bit too shaky for my taste.
Nevertheless, I am very happy to have a stick with two different connections now and no longer want to do without this additional comfort for me.
I would be happy to know what kind of data carrier you put in the comments to transfer files from one PC to the other!
