Perhaps the prettiest medieval game of 2024 has just been updated to be even more detailed

The keep is complete! Author Jesko has already invested a few hours in this castle town.

was one of the surprise hits of 2024.The castle building simulation doesn't really offer much gameplay. There is no story or game goals; Instead, you calmly puzzle together the castle of your dreams on a square map.

Strictly speaking, Tiny Glade is less a game and more an editor. But it's still a lot of fun. Above all, the picturesque look with many hidden details has already made us invest a few hours in building a magnificent keep.

With the new update 1.11.0, Tiny Glade is now even more detailed.Because the creators are fulfilling a big fan wish just in time for Christmas: objects that appear randomly can now be moved and adjusted.

Until now, decorative objects such as barrels, benches and stacks of wood simply appeared randomly when we installed doors and windows or adjusted balconies. We couldn't change their position anymore. With a new context menu we can now freely move and even clone the junk (see screenshots below).

Instead of a small pile of wood, we can now store a supply of firewood on the wall of the house for the entire winter. In addition, there were alsonew decorative items such as market stalls with fruit and vegetables, a cart with pumpkins or a blacksmith's anvil added.

Items like hay bales, barrels and stacks of wood just appear every now and then. Now you can rotate and move them with a new context menu.

Let there be light

Also new is a context menu for adjusting light sources. This means you can now not only dim the lanterns up and down in three levels, but also freely choose their color. If the standard yellow is too boring for you, you can now change the lamps to a spooky blue - or you can turn your castle into a literal red light district.

There's also a bit between December 19th and 26thChristmas musicon the ears. Well then the holidays can come.

You can find all other changes belowin the detailed English patch notes.

Changelog

Major:

  • Automatically spawned clutter can now be moved, rotated, deleted and cloned
  • Light limit has been lifted from 32 to 32,768
  • Updated Winter music with more festive layers for the holiday season

Minor:

  • Lantern light intensity can now be chosen among 3 values
  • Lantern light colors now have equal luminous power (so blue and purple look similar in intensity to other colors)
  • New clutter objects: anvil, fabric rolls, stall with breads, stall with veggies, crate with fish, rack with brooms, bench without basket, door bell, dörrkrans, flower box + halloween themed clutter (barrel with candles, 2 variants of pumpkins, crate with pumpkins, boxes with pumpkins)
  • 7 festive daily themes coming on Dec 19 - Dec 26
  • Birds can sit on bird nests, lanterns, flags, and some clutter objects
  • Sheep will now avoid clutter
  • Brick limit has been lifted from 1M to 2M
  • Roof tile limit has been lifted from 128k to 256k
  • F6 feedback tool can now also be used to send performance benchmarks to us
  • Lanterns and flags now ignore collision with fences when placed on terrain, so you can place them closer for neater arrangements
  • Holding a disable snapping key (LCtrl by default) while manipulating rotatable objects (ground flags, ground lanterns and clutter) will switch to rotation
  • In the main menu, there's a newsletter button now next to Discord
  • In the settings menu, Tutorials have been renamed to "Control Hints", and there's no longer "enable tutorial" button. Instead, there's "complete all" which will mark all hints as completed to hide them. This way, when a new feature arrives, you always get a hint about the new controls.

Fixes:

  • Fixed incorrect handling of WinAPI display mode errors, which could result in a crash loop upon enabling Fullscreen.
  • Use "File::sync_all" / "FlushFileBuffers" before closing files to reduce save corruption risk on Windows (thanks, Notepad++ forums folks!)
  • Fix rogue underground floors and columns which sometimes were interfering with placement of objects
  • Fix NaN-related crash when looking perfectly down and placing lanterns
  • Fix water ambience attenuation in first person mode
  • Fix water ambience audio source to prioritize playing the source closest to the player camera
  • New tutorial additions will no longer reset the whole tutorial state (oops!)
  • Left-clicking on lanterns and clutter is now ignored, since they don't have a random seed that can be changed as a result of the clicking
  • Ground flags will change their pattern if you click on rotation gizmo too (not just the bottom white dot)
  • The crash reporter will now detect crashes caused by OBS, and provide workaround info
  • Big tree in Olden glade is now easier to grab, and when grabbing it, it will no longer jump
  • Fix settings menu overlay from purple to dark green when in Olden glade at night
