With Stardew Valley 1.6, the big update is finally coming to iOS and Android. The hidden multiplayer mode can be activated via the main menu with a short key combination.

Stardew Valley 1.6: Unlock multiplayer for iOS and Android
When you start the game, you will be in the main menu of the farm simulation as usual. To start a multiplayer session, you have to follow a certain order in which you press the leaves around the "Stardew Valley" logo in the main menu. In the picture below you can see which sheet on the board represents each direction:
- The keyboard shortcut: ↑ ↑ ↓ ↓ ← → ← →
- Then tap on the question mark symbol at the bottom rightto unlock co-op mode.
As soon as the “Coop” button appears, you can use it to start the game with your fellow players. However, you need the IP address of the respective host in order to join the game. According to the developer, you should ideally be on the same network.
This is how you find out the IP address:
- For iOS: Settings -> WLAN -> Click on the “(i)” symbol next to the WLAN name and then search for “IP address”.
- For Android: Settings -> Network & Internet -> Internet -> Click on the gear next to the WLAN name and search for “IP address”.

Can a PC host the game?
Yes, that is possible. The developer himself even recommends that a PC on the local network host the game for a multiplayer session:
» The ideal “mobile multiplayer” scenario would be connecting to a farm hosted on a PC from a high-end mobile device on a local network (via WiFi, unless you have a way to connect your mobile device to Ethernet to connect). This would be the best case scenario.”
Stardew Valley: Why is the multiplayer hidden?
According to the developer, this is still an experimental feature. Therefore, errors and other problems such as sudden connection interruptions are to be expected.
Eric Barone (ConcernedApe) emphasizes that multiplayer sessions via smartphones can be potentially frustrating. It is therefore recommended that a PC takes on the role of host.
