What do you plan to do when you're 87 years old?Maybe you want to take Ridley Scott as an example. The director of cult films like Alien and Gladiator has decided to tackle two new cinema projects in 2025.
A truly impressive undertaking, with which Scott actually breaks a rule he set for himself: the director actually never wanted to make more than one film per year, but that has now apparently become obsolete for 2025.
In an interview withGQScott is asked directly about the fact that he is now increasing the pace with his new productions:
Yes, why not? The studios trust me. You say:Ok
.
What two projects is Ridley Scott tackling this year?
The Dog StarsStarring Jacob Elordi, the film is an adaptation of Peter Heller's 2012 book of the same name and is scheduled to begin filming in April.
The plot revolves around the hobby pilot Big Hig in a post-apocalyptic future, who is contacted one day via radio message. Does something like a civilization still exist outside of a safe hiding place?
Next up, Ridley Scott wants to do his biopic in SeptemberYou Should Be Dancingabout the Bee Gees. This was actually supposed to be filmed at the beginning of 2025, but apparently there are currently disputes with the film studio Paramount.
Scott tells GQ:
[...] The studio simply changed the conditions. I said, "You can't do that," but they insisted. Then I replied: "Okay, I'll warn you, I'll go out and just make my next film." They didn't believe me and I went through with it.
They wanted me to go too far and I just said “No, next person please.” They didn't agree to my terms. So I said, “Then I’ll do something else.” I’m expensive, but I’m also damn good.”
As already mentioned, Ridley Scott's Bee Gees biopic is still coming, but just a little later. What the director has planned for 2026 remains to be seen. Scott had previously spoken about plans for Gladiator 3 and a new Alien film, among other things. You can read more about this under the links above.
