Scalpers are stuck with their PS5 Pros on Ebay - but an accessory is selling better than ever before

So far, scalpers are not doing good business with the PlayStation 5 Pro.

Sony's PlayStation 5 Pro will be officially available from November 7th. It is available from Sony as well as other online shops for a price of 800 euros.

This affects sales of the console on eBay. Scalpers could with the anniversary edition of the PlayStation 5 Pro, sales of the regular PS5 Pro look poor.

In the last seven days, exactly one PlayStation 5 Pro was sold on eBay for 830 euros.

The main reason for the slow sales is general availability. The PS5 Pro can be pre-ordered from Sony for 30 euros less.

PS5 Pro Anniversary Edition sells better

The situation is different when it comes to sales of the PlayStation 30th Anniversary Edition. A whopping 10 consoles have been sold on eBay in the last seven days.

The price range for sales is between 2,960 euros and 3,500 euros. The limited console was sold out at Sony after just a few moments and is no longer available in stores.

But be careful:Sales can also be canceled afterwards. eBay can also intervene in the event of violations and stop sales.

The disc drive is in demand

The PlayStation 5 disc drive is also widely sold on eBay. The new price fluctuates between 175 euros and 224 euros. The drive is available used for a few euros less.

For comparison:The RRP is 120 euros.

A total of 32 drives for the PS5 have been sold on eBay in the last few days.

There are several reasons why the drives sell in large numbers on eBay:

  • Like the Playstation 5 Digital Edition, the PlayStation 5 Pro comes without a disk drive. The drive must therefore be purchased separately.
  • The drive is sold out at Sony and online retailers.

outlook: If Sony doesn't provide any more drives by the time the PS5 Pro officially launches, prices on eBay will likely continue to rise.

Have you pre-ordered a PlayStation 5 Pro? Were you able to get hold of a disc drive for this, or do you prefer to play everything digitally anyway? Feel free to write us a comment.
