2025 would be the ideal time for Sony to present the PS5 portable

The market for gaming handhelds is currently experiencing a renaissance. I think the time for a PS Vita 2 is now better than ever. And I think it should be called PS5 portable.

PS5 Portable: Why 2025 makes so much sense

This year is really exciting for fans of gaming handhelds:

The Nintendo Switch 2 will appear.
Microsoft could be one in cooperation with Asuspublish.

Valve plans a Steamos beta that is compatible with more gaming handhelds.

The PSP and PS Vita are among my absolute favorite consoles. Unfortunately, the vita was not particularly successful and Sony withdrew from the market. There is the PS portal, but this is not a handheld for native gaming, but for streaming and remote play.

Should Microsoft really get into the handheld market this year, the three major console manufacturers would only be missing Sony-and I think Sony has the best chance of measuring themselves with the Nintendo Switch 2.

If Sony gets a handheld correctly, I believe in a console that can achieve similar successes as the Nintendo Switch did.

PS5 Portable: My expectations

A united game library with the PS5:That is exactly why I find the name PS5 Portable so promising. It is easy to understand and conveys exactly what is possible with this handheld: play PS5 games on the go.

I see a separate game library, such as in the time of PS Vita and the PS3. A completely new portfolio would have to be built up and developers would have to be convinced by the console.
Compatibility with the PS5 would ensure that hundreds of titles are already available for the launch. Or you already have games from Euer PS5 with which you can get started immediately.
The exclusive titles are a real unique selling point among the gaming handhelds, with which only Nintendo can shine.

Enough performance:Of course, such a handheld must also have the performance in order to be able to play PS5 games natively.

The PS5 represents these games in a 4K resolution (albeit with the help of upcaling). A PS5 portable only needs enough power to display it in 720p. This resolution is completely sufficient for a device with a 7-inch screen.

A hybrid concept, such as both Nintendo Switch 2:The PS5 portable, like the Nintendo Switch 2 or the Steam Deck, should also be connected to television using a dock.

Today's games can be scaled up to the high resolution of the television without loss of performance.
A housing with cable for the external drive of the PS5 Slim and PS5 Pro would also be useful if you already have a few games physically, but I definitely lean too far out of the window.

Yes, there is, but the information situation is still very thin. The hardware experts at Digital Foundry heard of their sources that Sony is already working on a gaming handheld. They believe that the manufacturer could offer a handheld in addition to the home console in the future.
