How does the cross play in Monster Hunter Wilds work?
The developers have already confirmed that theircan play together on all platforms for the release- No matter whether PC, Xbox Series or PS5, the hunting together knows no boundaries. If you look for random players or invite your friends directly, you can link across platforms.
If you play on the console, you need access to PS Plus or the Game Pass to use the online functions of the game.
What about cross-save, cross-buuy and cross progression?
If you want to change the platform or play on the PC and console, it doesn't work.Savegames and progress are limited to a platform. Even if you buy Monster Hunter Wilds several times, you have to create a new character. Therefore, there is no way to buy the game at the same time at the same time for several platforms.
How do I connect to friends on another platform?
To play with your friends via cross play,Do you need your hunter ID, as well as your own. You find out as follows:
- Navigated in the game tooMenu> Info> Jäger Profile> Jäger-ID (Hunter ID)and share this friend or girlfriend (or vice versa)
- The one who invites now gives the number atMenu> Communication> Player list> Jäger-ID searcha
- If the player appears there, just click on the profile and choose
Send friend request
- If this is accepted, you will find your new allies with your friends in the player list
- Here you simply select him or her and send one
Link Party Invite
(Or a connection group invitation, hach yes, German is already great). Then you can set up at quests as a group.
This also works if you want to invite someone on your own platform without adding this person directly via Steam.
Can you deactivate cross play?
If you do not want to use the feature for some reason, you can do it in the main menu (underOptions> game settings> cross -platform playing) turn off. You then only play with hunters on your own platform, that also switched off cross play.

How does the multiplayer in Monster Hunter Wilds generally work?
Lobbies
Do you want to play with others in generalShould you join a multiplayer lobby. In the start menu, you either choose a random or one with certain conditions - for example the lobby of your friends.
There you can see other players and can also access their quests to go hunting together. These are already known from Monster Hunter World and include 100 players per lobby.
Start quests
Missions work in multiplayer lobbys as well as in single players. You speak to quest giver Alma or go to your tent for the same menu. There you choose an order or joined an open mission in the lobby.
In World, the co-op could only be started after certain story cutscenes, which caused frustration among the players. In Wilds this should very rarely be the case. You can usually watch or skip a cutscene together and then get started immediately.
Connection groups (link parties)
The ones mentioned above are newLink parties or connection groupsthat are made up of up to four hunters. If you add the same lobby as a friend, you can already play together in the co -op. However, the link function automatically invites you to your quests and vice versa.
It also works regardless of the lobby in which you are in, and is generally best suited for it,to complete several missions or even the story together.
- Link parties remain together even after a completed quest. If you decide to get out for a short time or play with someone outside the party, you can also easily join in again.
- You have access to a text and voice chat that can only use the link party members.
Link parties are limited to quests. If you really want to explore the open areas together, you have to activate another feature.
Environmental connection (Environment Link)
If you are part of a liaison group, you can use it via Environment Linkalso invite directly to your world,to explore together. Simply chooseCommunication> Liaison group> Invite all to ambient connectionout of. You can already play tour guide for your friends. That sounds wonderfully simple, but there is a little something to consider:
- At some points in the story, the feature is temporarily deactivated, simply continue to play until you can use it again.
- Only members of a liaison group can join in via the surrounding connection.
- The function cannot be activated during an ongoing quest. In addition, you cannot start new quests - only monsters that you actively discover in the world can be hunted.
- If you start a field examination, the group takes part together.
OverCommunication> Connection group> Dissolve/leave the bonus,If you end the free exploration for you or the entire group (as a host).
SOS-Signale
Also thatSpontaneous interaction by means of an emergency illuminated signsIt is possible again directly from an ongoing mission. Call it over the cake menu or navigate toMissions & Quests> Emergency illuminated signs.
Everyone can really join here, regardless of connection groups or lobbies. Do not join any real players, take over from theAI-controlled auxiliary huntersthis role. But that only happens if you are underQuest switch> Settings> multiplayer options Other players & auxiliary hunters
orOnly auxiliary hunters
selected. If you want, you can also limit the emergency co-op to real people.
But don't worry:If a real person wants to join, the auxiliary hunter immediately clears the place. If you faint, the quest cannot fail and the reward does not reduce it either.
This information comes from Capcom itself, as well as from our own beta experiences. It remains to be seen whether something changes in February or for the release on February 28, 2025 to the multiplayer functions.
