It's that time again:McDonaldsandPokémonhave once again teamed up to publish special trading cards. This campaign has taken place annually since 2011 and is now returning in 2024. We'll tell you which trading cards have already been confirmed and what the situation looks like in Germany.
Pokémon trading cards in Happy Meal 2024
So far, this campaign has only been confirmed for McDonald's branches in France and is expected to start there soon on December 4th, 2024 and last until January 21st, 2025.
This time the 15 selected cards fit perfectly with the Chinese Year of the Wooden Dragon, which we are currently in until January 28, 2025. In addition to a few exceptions, Dragon Pokémon in particular appear in the list of confirmed cards:

- Morlord
- Pikachu
- Miraidon
- Brimova
- Koraidon
- Nachtara
- Catapult
- Trikephalo
- Donnersichel
- Pummeluff
- Dragoran
- Eevee
- Rayquaza
- Sen-Long
As usual, no new cards should be waiting in the Happy Meals, only reprints of existing copies. Six of the 15 cards contain a special holo effect that only McDonald's cards have. The mini card packs will contain 3 regular cards and 1 holographic card.

What about the campaign in Germany?
Currently (as of November 27, 2024) little further information is known about the Happy Meal campaign.It has only been announced and confirmed for France, which is unusual in the sense that the USA also still has to wait for confirmation.
In Germany there is currently one in ten Mario Kart characters in the Happy Meal:
Next up is to match the movieSonic the Hedgehog 3a Happy Meal collaboration with the blue hedgehog will follow. Since the film will be released in our cinemas on December 25, 2024, this year should already be well filled with Happy Meal gifts.
That's why all we can do is look forward to the New Year for the special Pokémon trading cards - the Year of the Dragon lasts until the end of January 2025. Aside from that, it's not out of the question that the campaign will come to us after January 2025.
