In November 2022 the player B00lin Steam opened and was made by a ban inAnd with it all other CoD games. What followed was over two years in which he tried to get rid of what he believes wrongly spoken. The whole ended in court and in his favor.
In a blogB00LIN not only describes the events, but also his motivation to stand up for so long for what he thinks was condition.Important:The player emphasizes that it is an experience report and is not to be regarded as a legal advice.
How did the ban come?
B00lin had already spent over 36 hours in the Beta of Modern Warfare 2 when the Ban took place. According to the notification, he is said to have used "unauthorized software" and manipulated "game data".
According to B00lin, further informationRequested request from the Support of ActivisionAnd he was not told which software should now be responsible for the BAN, as this was a security risk.
However, the actual code fan believes that he did not want to know sensitive data that would use any cheat manufactures. In his blog he writes:
Not even this harmless information was provided. How can I prove that I have not cheated if no information has been provided? Was it Logitech G Hub? ICUE? Obs? To date, I don't know what the cause of the wrong ban was.
The long way to the judge
When B00lin then filed a lawsuit, Activision switched on a law firm. The attempts to agree out of court, failed according to the player on the publisher.
B00lin assumes that Activision did not expect the case to go to court. In his homeland in Great Britain, both parties of a legal dispute must present their evidence before the negotiation.
While B00lin presented evidence that should distinguish him as an exemplary player who never had anything to come up with, there was nothing at Activision that showed misconduct on his part: in the blog he states:
Apparently the anti-cheat/security team from Activision is so strict that the people who hired them to defend them were not allowed to see any evidence of non-authorized software or manipulation of game data.
In the end, the judge decided that Activision had to pick up the Ban because itno evidence of misconduct provided. B00lin has been allowed to play Cal of Duty with his account since January 2025. He states to himself“It was worth the effort«.
But why all that?
For him it was more than just being able to play COD again. Since he plays over Steam, he naturally got a VAC Ban that did not exclude him from other titles, but was also displayed on his Steam profile.
The ban hashis reputation on Steam destroyedt and in games like Counter-Strike 2 in worse matches. In addition, there is the public stigma: the BAN also ruined other games for him, since it was often referred to as a cheater when it went well for him.
In the end, B00lins otherwise led white vest and the lack of evidence to a success for the player in court.
