Apple is only partially known for giving things away - but next weekend it's actually offering something free.
Specifically, it is about the in-house streaming service Apple TV Plus, which will be made available on the weekend of January 4th and 5th, 2025. The streaming provider's official X account announced this shortly before the end of the year with the words "See for yourself":

Free weekend on Apple TV+: These are the conditions
However, Apple does not mention the exact terms and conditions of participation either in the X article or on the official Apple TV Plus website. The portalVarietyfollowed up at this point:
- According to the report, there are no restrictions on what you can watch within the Apple TV catalog. All films and series are fully unlocked for the duration of free access.
- As part of the offer, you can run Apple TV on all devices compatible with the streaming service - just like paying customers do.
- To access the offer, all you need is an Apple ID. According to Variety, there is no need to provide a credit card or other payment method. There is also no need to take out a trial subscription.
This also means: After the free period has expired, neither termination nor similar restrictions are necessary.
The usual methods for such a free period remain unaffected by the free promotion. Apple generally allows a one-week trial subscription for Apple TV Plus, which (if not canceled beforehand) converts into a regular subscription with a monthly price of ten euros.
Meanwhile, qualified devices such as iPhones and iPads receive a three-month trial period. In addition, Apple TV Plus is integrated into the suite called “Apple One,” which costs 20 euros but also grants access to services such as Apple Music or iCloud Plus.
The free period for Apple TV Plus should of course have the goal of acquiring new customers in mind. Apple itself has not yet given any subscriber numbers since Apple TV Plus launched its (streaming) service around five years ago.
Is there a series or movie that you'll be eligible for during Apple TV Plus's free period? Let us know in the comments!
