With the “Stream Together” feature on Twitch, it is possible to combine multiple streams. This option has now been taken to a new level.

The native “Stream Together” feature is availablefor a few months now and she is being used by theused happily and extensively. With their help, multiple streams can be merged into one to make the viewing experience smoother. The feature has now been expanded to include several important functions. One of them seems too good to be true, and it is.

“Watch Together” - Twitch makes smaller streamers seem big

What is this feature?“Watch Together” or “Watching Together” is an upgrade from the previous “Stream Together”. This not only combines the streams and chats from the various channels into one, but also their viewer numbers. For example: 3 streamers decided to start a shared stream:

  • Streamer A has an average of 150 viewers
  • Streamer B brings 280 viewers
  • Streamer C had about 200 that day
  • The number shown in the shared stream is therefore 630

This update is primarily intended to make a “collaboration feel like a real collaboration,” as it says in theTwitch-Blogis called. The larger number of viewers also affects the reach and visibility on Twitch, so smaller channels in particular can benefit from this by attracting new viewers. In addition, it should improve the chat experience for users, as chats with many viewers usually have more going on. Practical feature for everyone who

Watching together is not a trick to get more advertising revenue

That's the catch:Unfortunately, anyone who is already rubbing their hands about the massive increase in advertising revenue is rejoicing too soon. Although the reach and visibility increases due to the combined viewership, the same cannot be said for other important aspects of the channels. The affiliate or partner status is still determined by your own viewer number, because it remains intact and can also be viewed.

Individual concurrent viewers (CCV) remains intact - viewers and streamers can see both the total viewership and individual viewership for each channel. “Shared Viewers” does not affect the path to partnering or the number of people who see ads on your channel.

Most importantly, however, is the fact that advertising revenue continues to be determined by the number of viewers. So if a streamer with 10,000 viewers partners with someone who has 50 viewers, it's not a money shower for the smaller streamer. Only the 50 viewers will still be charged for the advertising revenue that you previously had. Bad news given.

All in all, this is a cool little Christmas present for any streamer who likes to hang out with their friends. Combining chats and viewers creates a feeling of larger communities and more interaction. By the way, if you want to see at the end of the year which channels you spent the most time on in 2024, then get it.
