This new RPG with a retro anime look is inspired by series like Dragon Ball and Sailor Moon

On December 11, 2024, Gamespot published a gameplay trailer for the new RPG Wander Stars, which is externally reminiscent of the retro look of the 90s anime series such as Dragon Ball and Sailor Moon. The trailer shows the game's two main characters and gameplay.

What is Wander Stars about? The new game from Paper Castle Games, which developed Underhero in the past, is about the young martial artist Ringo and the Wolfe, a mysterious villain. Ringo is looking for her brother and Wolfe is trying to run away from his past. Since they both want to find all parts of the legendary Wanderstar map, they join forces even though they don't get along at all.

The game is said to be divided into "episodes" just like an anime, but they are 40 to 60 minutes long compared to anime series. In the individual episodes, the two have to work together, find answers, make amends for past mistakes and travel through the universe in search of their goal.

Wander Stars is a turn-based role-playing game with a 90s anime look in which players have to assemble words like from a deck for powerful attacks in order to cause great damage to opponents. The release is currently planned for 2025. A more precise release date is not yet known.
