Zelda Breath of the Wild was secretly hidden in Twilight Princess HD before release - did you discover it?

Zelda: Twilight Princess HD hides a small detail about BotW, which was not yet released at the time.

The new edition of the classicwas released for the Wii U in March 2016, almost exactly a year ago. In keeping with this, Nintendo hid a small reference to the upcoming open-world game that is easy to miss.

You can find the Easter Egg inChudleys Ladenin Hyrule City. If you look closely, you can see the now well-known artwork for Breath of the Wild as a painting on the wall, with which Nintendo revealed the expansive, open game world of the successor.

For a direct comparison you can take a look at the Reddit post fromu/This-Lucaswho has compared both images. The most important difference is that the imagemirroredand apparently hangs somewhat compressed in the frame. Apart from that, the motif is clearly recognizable. As soon as you leave Chudley's shop, you will find it to the left of the entrance door.

What kind of picture is this? The motif comes from the very first teaser trailer for Breath of the Wild, which was presented by Nintendo at E3 2014. In the video, developer Eiji Aonuma showed for the first time a little bit of video material from the then still unknown open world.

To illustrate its vastness, the idyllic scenery shows the green and now well-known landscape of Hyrule from an early version of Breath of the Wild on the Wii U.

Here is the excerpt from the video showing the gameplay:

Expensive prices but nice decoration

If this detail doesn't sound familiar to you in Twilight Princess HD, it might be because of Chudley's shop itself. The painting is no longer hanging on the wall as soon as Maro takes over the shop during the associated quest series and converts it into the Maro Market.

Or you only played the Gamecube original from 2006. Of course, so many years before Breath of the Wild, Nintendo still didn't have a crystal ball to hand for far-reaching future predictions.

But maybe you remember Chudley from back then, because the shop owner doesn't necessarily have a lot of likeability points. For example, Link is not allowed to enter the noble building with dirty shoes. At least you can have the cleaning done by the NPC Soal, who sits right in front of the shop.

But even if you go in, the luxury store is of little use to you. The cheapest item is so expensive that Link's maximum wallet capacity is not enough. You can only shop here if you help Maro gain a foothold in Hyrule City. However, with the new owner, the decoration also changes and the painting from Breath of the Wild disappears.
