In total, the Legend of Zelda series has made it to 20 main parts and a number of offshoots. From 2D adventures, open-world epic and rhythm dance games, everything is included, but one thing is missing: oneZelda game with Scifi setting, In the link by spaceship through the hyrules galaxy, explore and alien temple.
Zelda in Space: Hive with it!
Under the titleZelda: Space ProjectHas fan and artist Xabier Urrutia published a concept video on Instagram in which the first designs are presented. There are animated action sequences, alien variants of well-known opponents and a small outlook on a possible solar system.
Being behind itno game or a mod, but a fan project that revolves around "concept art and WorldBuilding", explains Urrutia in the description.
It is particularly exciting that the works rely relatively little on future technology. Instead of a steel spaceship with rocket drive, Link flashes with a glider through space that makes an organic impression. The classic green fabric robe also remains.
However, it is not without any technology, for example, the hero shoots projectiles from a futuristic firearm, puts on a helmet to breathe and apparently has small thrust nozzles on the legs.
Nevertheless, the more medieval fantasy feeling, for which the series is actually known, remains well preserved. According to the Creator, the video is just the first look at his project, on which work is to be continued.
Cool idea with a lot of potential
In fact, a game of this kind would be combined pretty well with well-known gameplay elements in the series. Instead of the usual regions such as desert, forest or snow areas, Space-Link could explore small planets with different climate zones.
Here the survival elements would beWonderfully grab, thanks to which the hero would have to adapt its clothing to the appropriate weather. How about, for example, a Zora planet that is completely covered with a gigantic ocean?
Classic dungeons would not be a problem with old temple systems of long forgotten alien species and could differ visually and playfully based on the cultures and properties of the respective beings.
We would not bet that Nintendo will ever take this path, but the idea is definitely exciting. Zelda has always been a changeable franchise that has reinvented itself several times. So why not?
What do you think: Would you like to have a “Zelda in Space” or do you prefer to stay with the classic fantasy scenario?
