When asked about the best Christmas present of the year, a gamer dad put himself in pole position just under a week before the holiday. So that his daughter no longer has to play Pokémon on his Game Boy Color, he simply built her one in her favorite colors.
Application for Father of the Year
That's what it's about:On Reddit, user jonDahzeeh shared a post with the “Game Boy” community last weekend that quickly gained momentum. The user presents the Christmas present for his eight-year-old daughter.
Since she's been playing Pokémon Gold on his homemade Game Boy Color for weeks, he thought about building her her own handheld. The basis is an FPGBC kit, around which he built a transparent purple shell with really stylish lighting.

This is FPGBC:FPGBC is a kit with which you can essentially build a Game Boy Color yourself with modern technology. The GBC's hardware is emulated so that "real" cartridges from the Game Boy and Game Boy Color can be played.
The battery, sound and display are significantly better than the original, and the kit is also cheaper than used handhelds.
The community is enthusiastic:The project has been very well received in the comments. The lighting in particular piques the interest of some who would like to recreate the build straight away.
Overall, the dedication and the idea are celebrated. The users are sure that the little daughter will be very happy about the Christmas present. Some people even go so far as to nominate the user as “Father of the Year”.
Either way, the family will probably have a peaceful Christmas when father and daughter don't have to fight over a Game Boy and can play games together.
