Sometimes you can still get real bargains at flea markets. This Reddit user must have thought that too after he only paid the equivalent of 1.65 US dollars for a PS1 at the flea market. The good piece looked very dirty, but something like that can be cleaned again. Which the new owner did, and with great success. However, he hasn't been able to get the console to work yet.
PS1 is really dirty, but really cheap and the new owner makes it shine like new
That's what it's about:Normally even old, used consoles cost more than 2 euros. But not this one, which of course makes you suspicious at first, but of course it can still be worth it. First of all, the device must be cleaned properly.
That's exactly what Reddit user Havantium aka Comfortable_Meal_115 did. With lots of alcohol, cotton swabs, paper towels and a cleaning product called Clean Green on a damp cloth he istackled the dirt on the poor PSOne.
And with gigantic success, as you can see here in this before and after photo series:

He receives a lot of praise for this:The cleaning campaign makes the venerable PS1 shine in new splendor. It is almost unrecognizable and really looks almost new after being properly cleaned. One user noted in the comments:
"Very good job restoring the poor unit! It almost looks like it's a different console to be honest."
But there is a catch:The PS1 now flashes and shines properly again, but unfortunately it still doesn't work properly again. When you turn it on, you can't get a real picture out of the device, even if the sound is supposed to sound normal.
We don't give up hope! The new owner's first assumption was that the mod chip might be to blame and that's why the console doesn't run properly. But even after removing the chip, unfortunately nothing improved.
There may be something that needs to be soldered (if the console is even salvageable) and the new owner wants to wait until they have learned the necessary skills or know someone who has it. Apparently he hasn't given up on the bargain yet. We definitely hope for his sake that he gets the PS1 repaired, then the work would definitely have been worth it.
What was the cheapest console you've ever shot used?
