I'm a completely different man: Player quits smoking and loses 17 kilos - all because of GTA 6

Quitting smoking due to the GTA 6 hype? For one Redditor, it worked.

When video games have a profound impact on a person's life, social stigmas suggest that the person will become addicted to the game and find little time for anything else. Today we would like to tell you about a story that led to exactly the opposite: One person was responsible for the release oftheir lives changed for the better.

Player stops smoking - for GTA 6!

In the GTA 6 subreddit the user RoeJoganLifealmost a year agoshared with the community that he recently quit smoking due to his hype about GTA 6. You can see his old post in the screenshot here:

At the time, RoeJoganLife wrote that he had been a heavy smoker for a while. A year ago, he felt more and more consequences, such as a severe cough or generally feeling worse.

Then came the announcement of GTA 6 and ignited its hype. That was probably the push in the right direction he needed. Because he didn't want to be in the hospital or take medication for the game's release, he took the chance and went cold turkey.

In the thread we shared above, almost a year later, user Marcellius-the-3rd asks how RoeJoganLife is doing - and indeed he hasan updategiven in the comments! You can read what he writes translated here:

“I would like to thank you for the love and can confirm with absolute pride that I have not smoked a cigarette since.

In fact, I have lost 17 kilos since February and am a completely different man. One healthy habit led to another, smoking feels like it happened a lifetime ago. My blood work from the other day came back and it was fantastic. I am healthier than ever and it was one of the most liberating experiences to no longer depend on cigarettes for my life.

I no longer have any cravings and can only wonder why the hell I did it in the first place, but I suppose as I wrote in my post [from a year ago], addiction is a damn bad thing.”

We have no choice but to congratulate RoeJoganLife like the many commenters on the thread. By the way: A look at RoeJoganLife's profile tells us that he has been around for overten monthsis smoke-free. Congratulations!

The trigger for the whole story was probably this trailer for GTA 6:

In addition to the congratulations, the users in the comments, as always, take the matter with a good dose of humor. They take up the running joke that something impressive happens before a long-awaited game release. Write something like thiscouchkiller122that GTA 6 cured smokers before we got GTA 6. Which is somehow true.

Between the congratulations and jokes, there are also similar stories from people like usersJayIsNotRealfind someone who has also developed a healthy habit because of GTA 6. Since the trailer, he now walks 15,000 steps every day during the week and still 5,000 steps on the weekend.

We just hope that some of the developers come across this post. After all, it's a wonderful feeling to help other people have a better life - even indirectly through working on a video game.

At this point we are excited about the experiences of the GamePro community:Have you ever changed your life because of a video game?
