The anime series Ranma 1/2 ran in the afternoon program of RTL 2 in the early 2000s. However, only the first 80 of the 161 episodes received a German version and the Japanese original never completed the story of the manga original.
That could change now, as the anime will receive a new edition in 2024. The 12-episode first season was obviously a success, and a second season has already been confirmed. You can find out everything we know about it here.
Release: When will the second season of Ranma 1/2 be released?
- When does the new season come out?still unknown
- Number of episodes:Probably 12 episodes again
- Setting:Probably original Japanese language with German subtitles and German dubbing
Theofficial X channel(formerly Twitter) of the series announced on December 21, 2024 that a second season of the series was in production. Unfortunately, no specific release date is mentioned here yet.
If the animation studio Studio Mappa can start working on Season 2 straight away, a release at the end of 2025 or 2026 would at least be conceivable.
Is there a trailer for Ranma 1/2 Season 2?
Yes, there is already a first teaser trailer. But don't get excited too soon, because it doesn't show any scenes from the second season yet. Rather, it is a compilation from the first season, which ends with the announcement of season 2:
Watch Ranma 1/2: You can stream the series here
Since the first season of the remake of Ranma 1/2 was already available in simulcast on Netflix in this country, it can be assumed that we can also watch the second season on the streaming provider.
If you want to watch the original anime again instead, things get more complicated. It is currently not available on any streaming service, so you only have used DVD boxes.
From this point on you can continue reading the manga
If you don't want to wait for the second season, you can of course also choose the completed manga by Rumiko Takahashi. The manga has a total of 407 chapters, Season 1 of the remake covers the first 36 chapters. From Chapter 37, the Neko Ken arc continues, which, among other things, deals with Ranma's fear of cats.
The volumes were originally published in a mirrored reading direction, but since 2022 the Egmont Manga publishing house has been re-publishing the volumes in the original Japanese reading direction. Currently, 15 of the planned 20 volumes have been published (as of January 2025).
