Over two weeks afterFresh information about Pokémon games is coming to light. Given the sheer size of the leak (it's also called Teraleak because 1TB of data was exposed), this isn't a surprise. All the more so for the content that is gradually revealed.
How GamePro deals with illegal hacking attacks:
The situation surrounding Game Freak cannot be compared to normal leaks. If it is usually about insiders passing on information, this is a criminal offense. Although the situation is currently not fully clear, in addition to gameplay assets and release plans, private information from Game Freak employees is also affected.
GamePro will provide coverage of the hacking attack but will not link to the original leaked files. The stolen data is now public and will not disappear if we ignore the issue. We see it as our journalistic duty to process and classify the published information as well as its illegal procurement and possible consequences for you.
This content was removed from Pokémon Sun and Moon - most notably an Eevee evolution
Content was removed from the seventh generation of Pokémon, set in the Alola region, during the development process. Basically, this is completely normal in game development - but this deleted content still creates interesting what-if scenarios.
Our personalHighlightfrom the deleted contents ofis definitely the onecanceled flight evolution of Eevee. The Eeveelutions (an English play on words between Eevee (Eevee) and evolution) are already very popular among Pokémon fans and Game Freak has been able to impress with most of the designs so far.
The reason Game Freak decided against implementing the flying Eeveelution is that the original design was too similar to a fan's. As a result, Game Freak considered the cost of the Pokémon to be too high and put the plan on hold for the time being in order to think again about the importance of the new Pokémon in the future.
Even two Pokémon generations later, the cost of the flying Eeveelution doesn't seem worth it if it hasn't already been abandoned entirely.
More from the Pokémon leak
More deleted content from Pokémon Sun and Moon
Other elements were also removed from the games. You can see these in the list below:
- PikachuorRaichuwould have oneregional fire formshould get.
- Trainer-Levelsystemwould have allowed you to level your own character. New levels would, among other things, have unlocked skills that would have allowed you to progress further in the game.
- So-calledMini-Pokémoncould have accompanied you on the upper world and occasionally carried out supporting attacks in battles. Outside of battles, the mini-Pokémon would have picked up items or discovered other pocket monsters that you can photograph with the Pokémon finder.
- Raid-Featurewould have let you battle giant mecha Pokémon in co-op. Equipped with three Pokémon each, you would have had to prove yourself and only received healing from berries that you found on the island.
- It would have oneDressing modegiven.
- Multiplayer mini-game, in which you can visit other players' islands and carry out orders on the touchscreen.
A few years after the games' release, you can see that some of the ideas have been picked up in future editions. So you can dress up your coaches more, sometimes less, or off in subsequent gamesGo on Tera raids alone or with fellow players.
While a fire Pikachu would certainly have made for an interesting regional form, we're particularly keen to see Eeveelution in a future game - and not just because it would be a perfect homage to the flying Pikachu of old.
Which of the deleted content would you have liked to see the most, or are you happy with how Game Freak decided on it?
