This is how shinys work in the first generation
If you have the old Game Boy editions If you've been playing, then you might have unknowingly encountered a shiny Pokémon without noticing it. Shiny Pokémon are not shown to you in the games, but with the correct status values they can take on a different color when swapped in the following Pokémon generation.
How does this work?It's true that shiny pocket monsters only officially existed since Pokémon Silver and Gold. However, whether a Pokémon is Shiny is determined by its set stats. Specifically, the DVs (English for Determinant Values, German forIndividual strengths) of the Pokémon are suitable for this.So if a Pokemon has the right DVs in Red, Blue, or Yellow, it will become Shiny when traded for Silver, Gold, and Crystal.
Due to the programming of the first editions, not all Pokémon can receive the correct DV values to become shiny later. As you can see from the explanation above, shiny Pokémon exist in theory in the first generation, but are not obvious. You can only calculate the DV values after the catch and you don't have any visual clues like in the later games because shinys didn't officially exist.

This changes the mod:On X, user norainthefuture shared a mod that gives you a theoretical Shiny with a glitter symbol next to the Pokémon name. At the same time, the mod removes the restrictions that allowed only certain Pokémon to have the correct DVs for Shiny status. In addition, the mod also lets you recognize the gender of your pocket monsters in the older Pokémon games.
The mod does not guarantee you endless shinys and does not change your chances of hitting.They remain at the extremely rare 1 in 8192.
