Fan draws Germany as a new Pokémon map, Brandenburg is the desert region and even Bielefeld is on it

What could a Pokémon game world based on Germany look like?

The Pokémon series, in its many offshoots, has already visited a number of regions that are roughly based on real countries. These include the Kanto region in Japan, Sword and Shield send us to England and the current generation is based on Spain and the Iberian Peninsula.

There hasn't been an official German map yet. u/aspiringhimbo1 on Reddit has now designed something like what it could look like. A possible game world emerges that hides some small details.

Don't get confused:The map is turned upside down to make the display more “interesting”. Overall, the proportions are fairly correct, but of course you shouldn't take it too seriously.

Stylistically, the work reminded us of the classic cards from the official Nintendo game advisors, which you may still know from Silver/Gold and Co. While the outlines were created by hand on paper, the details followed after a scan and with a drawing tablet on the computer, as the artist reports in the comments.

There are countries where something is going on

First of all, we have to point out that Brandenburg is a desert. That's funny. In fact, there are some concrete considerations behind it. According to the company, the dry area with small cacti and almost endless wasteland is based on the Lieberoser Heide, which is known for its sandy soil. Part of this area is becoming a realityLieberos desertcalled and it actually looks exactly like it sounds.

The small town in the center of the map is “loosely based on Bielefeld”. We'll save ourselves jokes about the fact that Bielefeld doesn't exist at this point. It's not 2010 anymore. There are still a few more details to discover: from the Ruhr area, several caves, the Black Forest and an open-cast mine in the west to Heidelberg and Munich further in the south.

There is already speculation in the comments about what the DLC region could be. The answer seems clear:Sylt! “For the low price of 600 euros”The island would actually be excellent as a separate map, it is understandably stated in the comments. What do you think?

Which Pokémon are there in the German region?

Although the map focuses on geography, there are also a few ideas about possible Pokémon in the region. A Wolpertinger, for example, is suggested by the community. And ideas for the three starters are also included:

Possible German starter animals

  • Plant type:Haselmaus
  • Fire type:Kuh
  • Type water:Molch

In theory, there would be many possibilities for new creations. Animals based on classic fairy tales would also be conceivable. A small wolf pup that later develops into a big wolf in a grandmother costume or a frog that later becomes king would definitely be wonderful.

What do you think: Which regions and Pokémon would you like to see in an upcoming RPG installment based on Germany?
