The One Piece anime is finally back after the six-month break. While the actual anime series for One Piece starts again with the continuation of the Egghead Arc, the animation studio TOEI animation still has a surprise for fans in stock:“One Piece in Love”.
One Piece in Love is an official spin-off to the main series and was even approved by Eichiro Oda. In the offshoot, “Nami” falls in love with “Luffy”, but maybe not in the way you think now - the two “straw hats” are normal high school students here.
The spin-off is not about Luffy and Nami as we know them
In One Piece in Love everything - as the title suggests - revolves around love for One Piece and a romantic relationship among the three main characters of the series:Luffy, Nami and Lysopp.
However, the three figures are not the real straw hats from One Piece, but of senior students whose names are based on the members of the pirate gang.
Namis full name, for example, is Koyama Nami in this branch and she is in love with “Luffy”. Yamamoto “Luffy” is the head of the One Piece fan club. The third character and so -called “Third Wheel” is Nakatsugawa Lysopp, who describes himself as a “sniper”.
Each episode serves as a parody of a one -piece event from the original anime.

One Piece in Love is originally a manga offshoot from 2018, which was not drawn by Eiichiro Oda, but has been approved. The manga serves as a kind of fan project by Daiki Ihara to the popular manga series.
The adaptation was not only approved by EIICHIRO ODA, he also expressed a positive statement at the start of the series. To celebrate the anime offshoot, the One Piece creator published a small drawing and asked fans to look at the series:

Since April 1, 2025, five episodes of the short anime have been openYouTubeandDailymotionuploaded. The complete series was produced in portrait format and published in the form of a YouTube short.
So far, there are only the individual episodes in the Japanese original sound without a subtitle on YouTube. On DailyMotion you will also find the series in the original sound, but with additional English subtitles.
It is not known whether the mini series will be available from known streaming services such as crunchyroll or Netflix and whether there will be a German synchro or translation.
The manga of One Piece in Love is currently a break and comprises a total of 141 chapters with 12 extra sides. At the moment you cannot read the manga in Germany.
