Spoilerwarnung! The following sections contain spoilers for manga chapter 1131. If you haven't read this far yet, a lot of things will be in advance for you.
One Piece Chapter 1131 continues the story on Elban with Luffy and his crewmates, while there are some changes to Brook, Franky and Robin on the giants' remaining ship.
Luffy was surrounded by the so-called "Lords of the Mountains" during his conversation with Loki, and fans have noticed that these giant beasts bear a suspicious resemblance to certain other creatures in the 2009 One Piece film: Strong World.
For the One Piece community, this is a clear indication that the appearance of the monsters from Strong World indicates the return of a popular antagonist from the film: Shiki, also known as Kinjishi.
Who actually is Shiki and what happened to him?
Shiki, also known as the Flying Pirate or Golden Lion, is a former member of the legendary Rocks pirate gang and the leader of the Golden Lion Pirates.
Shiki was also considered a legend in the Age of Gol D. Roger and Rocks D. Xebec and was ranked by the World Government as one of the most dangerous pirates in the world.
He is the antagonist of the tenth film One Piece: Strong World, in which he wanted to implement a plan for world domination that had been in the making for 20 years, but was ultimately stopped and defeated by the Straw Hats. Although it is considered canon in the main story, the events of the film are not said to be canon.
How he ended up in Impel Down:When Gol D. Roger was captured by the World Government, Shiki couldn't believe it and attacked the Marine Ford in direct response to Roger's arrest. He couldn't understand how someone as strong as Roger could suddenly become so weak and wanted to kill him because of it.
However, he was ultimately hunted down by Sengoku and Garp after killing many marines. The two then took the dangerous pirate to the maximum security prison in Impel Down.
His escape:After two years, Shiki had enough of Impel Down and broke out of prison, even though it was considered escape-proof. However, the escape was far from without problems and in order to free himself from his chains, Shiki had to cut off his chained legs
The legendary pirate Shiki was the first and possibly the last prisoner to cause such incredible chaos in Impel Down over the next 20 years. The pirate later replaced his missing legs with his two swords.
He then met with Whitebeard and announced his disappearance. It is not known where Shiki is currently located.
His potential appearance on Elban
One Piece fan and X user@choasx00Like many other fans of the series, you noticed that very specific beasts that already appear in the One Piece Film: Strong World appeared in Chapter 1131. The community is sure that this cannot be a coincidence and theorizes that Shiki will soon appear on Elban in the current arc.
Luffy's comment "This reminds us of old times..." in the chapter would also make sense, since the Straw Hat Pirate has already fought against such monstrous beasts in Strong World. It is still uncertain in what form the former Rocks member and the legendary pirate might appear in Elban or whether he will even have a role in the current story.
Choasx00 speculates that the silhouette at the end of Chapter 1124 could be Shiki, who may have been waiting for the Straw Hats since his defeat in Strong World. After all, the character's legs are not visible and his hair is just as disheveled as Shiki's.
Eiichiro Oda is also known for hiding little teasers and hints about possible future events in his manga.
However, it is important to note that there is another reasonable theory about the silhouette at the start of the Elban Arc. Instead of Shiki, it could be one of the Roger Pirates: Scopper Gaban.
Whatever Oda's plans for the appearance of these giant monsters, fans are hoping for Shiki's appearance in the Elban arc and are excited to see what role the Golden Lion could play in this regard.
What are your thoughts on the potential return of Shiki from One Piece: Strong World?
