After the One Piece anime started the revised Fish-Man Island saga at the beginning of November, the manga is now returning after a two-week break. In the previous chapters, several new characters have already been introduced - including “the cursed Prince Loki”, possibly one of the strongest fighters in history.
The cursed prince seems to have a very special connection to the famous pirate “Red Hair Shanks” and could be the reason why Shanks became one of the seven samurai of the seas in the first place.
Spoilerwarnung! In the following sections there are spoilers for the Elban arc and the characters that may play a huge role in this arc. If you haven't started the Elban arc or completed the Egghead arc yet, there's a lot ahead of you.
Shanks' strong Haki even now causes fear among Loki's people
In Chapter 1131, the chained giant warrior that Luffy last met in the previous chapter is officially introduced once again as “the cursed Prince Loki”. A tense situation arises between the two strong fighters in which Loki tries to intimidate Luffy and his subjects with wild beasts.
However, this doesn't work with the Straw Hat; Luffy also paralyzes all the beasts around him. One of Loki's followers immediately draws a comparison of Luffy to Shanks:
“Hopefully he won’t make us swoon like he did when “Red Hair Shanks” of the Seven Samurai of the Seas was here…”
So Shanks has been to Elban in the past. It is implied that Shanks had a falling out with Loki and his people. His royal haki may have been so strong that it caused Loki's fellow warriors to faint and now they are overcome with fear when they think about it again.
Shanks may have been the reason for Loki's imprisonment exactly 6 years ago
During the course of the chapter, Loki explains to the Straw Hat Pirate how long he has been tied to the treasure tree Adam. Exactly six years have passed since he lost the battle on Elban and was arrested.
One Piece fan and X-user @writingpanini as well as other fans noticed something special about this statement.

Exactly six years earlier, Shanks rose to become one of the seven samurai of the sea. This corresponds to the time period in which Loki is tied to the tree. The community theorizes that Shanks had something to do with Loki's imprisonment, as he and his followers have apparently already met the strong pirate in the past.
In the previous chapter, the giant warriors tell how it took all of Elban to defeat and lock away the thoroughly evil Loki. So Shanks could have contributed to the victory in the fight against Loki 6 years ago and thus made an enormous impression with his incredible strength.
After all, the cursed prince is considered one of the most vicious and dangerous fighters on Elban. The World Government has even put a large bounty of 2.6 billion Berries on Loki's head.
This also explains how friendly the giants on Elban are to the Red Hair Pirates. With a victory over such a dangerous opponent, Shanks would have richly earned the title of one of the seven samurai of the sea.
What are your theories about the fight six years ago and do you think Luffy and Shanks will see each other again soon?
