Have you ever seen a film or series and were so impressed by a scene that you had to tell your friends about it? With a new feature from Netflix, this should now be easier than ever before. “Netflix Moments” lets you create bookmarks for individual scenes and share them with others. The feature is initially only available on iOS devices.
Save and share scenes at the touch of a button
This is how it works:If you use Netflix on a mobile device, you can essentially bookmark the start of a scene. This means you can later jump directly to the scene in the 'My Netlix' tab and share it on social media platforms such as Instagram and TikTok.
It is currently unclear what will happen to the Moments if the respective content from which the scenes come is removed from Netflix's catalog. Films and series that are on the watchlist retain this status even if they are no longer available. It is also unclear what happens with content from other countries. What Netflix offers varies greatly depending on which part of the world you are currently in.
The new feature is reminiscent of the share button on the PS4 and PS5. Through Moments, Netflix wants to put more emphasis on the social aspect. For years there have been viral moments in films and series, such as Jenna Ortega's dance in the Netflix show Wednesday. These should be even easier to distribute in the future.
Current film and series news
For now only on iOS:Netflix is rolling out the new feature to iOS devices worldwide first. iPadOS and Android users will have to be patient, for better or worse. An implementation for the browser version and the Smart TV apps is currently not planned. But that could certainly change if the feature is particularly well received by users.
What do you think of the new Moments feature? Is it a practical extension of the offer for you or is it unnecessary?
