After criticism of Pixar's look for Dragon Age The Veilguard: 'The next Mass Effect will be photorealistic,' says BioWare

How long until we see Commander Shepard or a new protagonist?

Now, therehas been released, a good part of the development studio should be freed up in the near future to devote themselves to other projects. Above all, there is of course, which is intended to continue the story of the successful sci-fi series.

Mass Effect aims to maintain a “realistic” look

Following the release of the new Dragon Age game, Michael Gamble, Executive Producer and Project Director at BioWare, reports on X that many people are asking him about the next Mass Effect. He commented on this on the social media platform as follows:

Translated this means:

“[Both Mass Effect and Dragon Age] are from the studio [BioWare], but Mass Effect is Mass Effect. Bringing a sci-fi RPG to life is different than other genres or IPs… and has to involve a different kind of love.”

Gamble maintains this clear separation from other genres when he refers to theutterancefrom a concerned user who doesn't want the new Mass Effect to go in the same (visual) direction as Dragon Age: The Veilguard. Gamble's words are clear:

“Mass Effect is photorealistic and will remain so as long as I stand behind it.”

So if you liked the visual design of the original games, you can look forward to more like that - hopefully modernized accordingly, of course. According to Gamble, the next offshoot of the series will also beadult toneretained from the original trilogy.

This is what the current situation is with Mass Effect 5

Almost a year ago there was a short teaser video to coincide with N7 Day, which you can watch here:

Otherwise, information about the next Mass Effect title is currently still scarce, as this year the focus was particularly on the new offshoot of BioWare's Dragon Age series. Now that part of the development team can be moved away, the focus will likely be on Mass Effect 5.

Hopefully this will lead to more information about the mysterious project coming soon - perhaps already at the next N7 Day, which is coming up in a few weeks.

Are you already thinking about Mass Effect or has Dragon Age: The Veilguard (or one of the other numerous October releases) completely taken over by you?
