One of the biggest innovations inis that this time you can go hunting with two weapons. This opens up completely new tactical possibilities. In the beginning, however, this function is not yet available. We explain here how you get your second weapon and change them in combat.
Monster Hunter Wilds: Get second weapon
If you start in Monster Hunter Wilds, you only go out with a single weapon. But don't worry, you haven't overlooked anything! The second weapon is only activated after a few hours.
So just keep playing and follows the story. Concreteyou will receive your second weapon as soon as you have a Quematrice in the main story(the fire chicken), which should happen after 2 to 3 hours at the latest. Then the Saikrii also becomes your permanent companion and Gemma builds a saddle holder for the second weapon as soon as you are back in the camp.
Equip and use the second weapon in Monster Hunter Wilds
To use the second weapon, you have to equip it first. You can do that directly at the smithy if you let Gemma forge a new weapon. Simply select "equip as a second weapon" here.
If you have already equipped two weapons and want to replace one of them, make sure what weapon your Hunter is currently wearing on your back. This weapon is rated as a first weapon regardless of its position in your equipment menu - otherwise you will run around with two equipped arches and no hammer instead of replacing your old sheet for a new one.

Alternatively, you change your weapons in the previously mentioned equipment menu. Click on Gemma in the menu with L1/RB on the second tabEquipment menuand thenChange equipmentwhere you can adjust your armor. You can do that in the tent with the same setting. Here you select your first and second weapon from your forged weapons.
Change weapon in Monster Hunter Wilds: How to use the second weapon
If you want to equip your second weapon in combat, you can't just do that at any time. This is only possible from your sacrii mount.
So first call your Saikrii by pressing the direction button up. You can just be on his back nowBy pressing on the right direction button to switch to your second weaponAnd then use them. If you want to change, you have to climb the Saikrii again.
By the way: You should use your mounting animal extensively in combat anyway. On his back you can also consume much more secure items or sharpen your weapons while you are chasing a fleeing monster.
