Most of you are likely to be the studio insomniac with the newer ones-Piel or alsoconnect. In PlayStation 3 times, however, the studio was still responsible for another brand. From 2006 to 2011, Insomniac published three large and two smaller parts of the-Series that next tobecame one of the most popular PS-exclusive shooter series.
After the third part, however, the series disappeared into the sinking - although the developer already had ideas for part 4 in the drawer. This now revealed Ted Price, founder and former CEO of the studio inConversation with the Kinda Funny Podcast(viaeurogamer.com).
No chance at Sony - hope for revival
According to Price, a "wonderful" concept was pitched at Sony at the time. At that time, many people at Insomniac put their heads together to further expand the story around the enemy Chimera-Alien and to lead the series into a correspondingly structured future.
The insomnia founder did not give any concrete details; What is certain, however, is that this Pitch Sony could not convince. According to Price, "timing and market opportunities" were the crucial reasons that Resistance 4 never got beyond the project status. Accordingly, Insomniac quickly devoted himself to others - and pulled a line under the brand.
Ted Price made no secret of the podcast that he would love to see a resistance revival. After all, he worked on the brand for a long time, which is why it was "very close to my heart". The chances for this should not be too good for almost 15 years after the last part, insomniac is currently with theGame busy.
Resistance: Fall of Man appeared as a launch title at the start of PlayStation 3 (2006 in the USA and Japan, 2007 in Europe). In 2009, a second part followed, the last main main pair of the series was released in September 2011. There was also two spin-off for the Handhelds PS Portable and PS Vita with Resistance: Retribution and Resistance: Burning Skies.
