On October 26, 2024celebrated its 20th anniversary. As the fifth part of the series, the open-world game was initially released for the PlayStation 2 and then for the Xbox and PC. At the time of release, there was still a bug in the game that one of the former developers describes as “the worst bug that we overlooked”.
GTA: San Andreas developer chats about game development
On X, formerly Twitter, Obbe Vermeij comments on bugs in video games. He worked as Technical Director at Rockstar North from 1995 to 2009 and was therefore heavily involved in the game development processes.
Vermeij writes, among other things, that games have bugs and GTA is no exception. That's why he recommends a specific patch that is in,andSan Andreasnumerous bugs removed. If you want to find out more about the so-called silent patch, you can take a look at Vermeij's post for yourself:

It is noticeable that the mentioned silent patch fixes 165 bugs in GTA: San Andreas - more than in the other two games combined. A user also seems to notice this and takes up the bug issue to Vermeijto ask, which bug he would have liked to have fixed before the release of GTA: San Andreas. The answer is clear:
The one with the front-end map that makes random things change when the player goes outside the map, is probably the worst bug we missed.

"The one where the front-end map changes random things as soon as the player leaves the map is probably the worst bug we missed."
At the same time thereVermeij zuthat some of the bugs that the silent patch he shared are fixed by him.
Former GTA developer Obbe Vermeij also shows upa questionabout the remaster of the GTA trilogy to ask for his opinion. Vermeij hasn't played the games himself yet, but I've noticed that most of the bugs have been fixed in the meantime.
But he also admits that in his opinion (he was no longer at Rockstar at the time) the remaster of the original trilogy was rushed.
Do you remember bugs from the PS2 GTAs or has the trilogy remaster overwritten those memories due to the sheer variety of bugs?
