GTA 5 comparison video shows innovations of the PC-Enhanced Edition and the graphic boost is enormous-but there is also criticism

The Enhanced Edition brings a decent graphic upgrade.

Rockstar Games is always a bit behind on the PC.appeared only one and a half years after the Xbox 360 and PS3 release for the computers, atIt took a year.

Now the Enhanced Edition is available for GTA 5 for download and it was almost three (!) Years since it was first published on PS5 and Xbox Series X | s. A comparison video shows how good the new version looks on the PC and what problems there are.

GTA 5 Enhanced Edition brings real -time calculated shadows, reflections and lighting

The PC-Enhanced Edition takes over one of the greatest improvements in the "Next Gen" version on the PS5 and the Xbox Series X | S:Ray-Tracing. The technology is used to create realistic shadows, represent correct reflections and indirectly illuminate the game environment, i.e.: sunlight is credibly distributed under shaded canopies or in forests.

The UversusPro comparison video, which has compared both versions in several situations, also focuses on the new ray tracing effects:

Above all, the difference in reflections is more than clear, entire facades of houses and the cars in the game are now reflecting their direct environment.

How good ray tracing in GTA 5 looks and what technical extensions there were also, three years ago, we worked out on the consoles in our comparisons between the current and the load gene versions:

In his video, Uversuspro also deals with a few more interesting innovations that are in the Enhanced Edition:

  • Flames have received a new animation and radiate more light
  • Fluorescent clothes shine dynamically
  • The render distance of shadow was significantly increased
  • SMACM with crushed tires gets stuck in the air a little longer
  • Betting holes create more particles

Not all fans are positive

Rockstar has brought a number of improvements into play, but they don't go far enough for many fans. For example, ray tracing mirrors cannot be seen on any surface and are not too high. In addition, loading times are hardly shorter on SSD data carriers, so there was supposedly not much.

There are also a few mistakes, remote features and cumbersome that some players get angry up:

  • Some textures are suddenly washed out
  • The text chat was temporarily removed
  • There are no higher framerates than 120 fps
  • Multi-sampling-anti-aliasing was removed; This is a performance-eating but qualitatively impressive form of edge smoothing
  • Mods must first be specially adapted to the new version and only work in a few cases
  • A workaround

And very surprisingly, the graphic improvements cost a lot of performance, Framerates go down by about 25 to 50 percent in comparable scenes. The newly implemented scaling techniques remedy thisFSR 3 und DLSS 3that you can use depending on the graphics card used. According to the first reports, they should also harmonize well with the game.

The Enhanced upgrade thus brings a number of graphics renovations for GTA 5 and GTA online, but space for improvements remains and it is very likely that Rockstar will add a few updates, if only because of GTA online as a live service multiplayer.
