Dragon Age: The Veilguard has a secret ending that you can easily miss - here's how to unlock it and grab the trophy

If you complete everything listed, you will get a secret scene.

Rooks grand finale mission incan end in different ways depending on what you've done beforehand and what decisions you make. If you have also done a little preparatory work and collected three very specific items, you will be rewarded with a secret additional scene after the credits have rolled across the screen.

But the whole thing is extremely easy to miss, especially because there is no overarching quest for all parts of the requirements. So some of us only got to see the secret scene on the second attempt.

This is particularly annoying because there is even a trophy attached to it. We therefore ensure that this does not happen to you.

These are the requirements for the secret Veilguard ending

To unlock the secret scene, you have to complete the side mission "Dire Wolf's Remorse" in the best possible way and also find three "Mysterious Circles". That doesn't sound like much at first, but both tasks involve several steps with puzzles and tough boss fights.

You must complete these quests before moving on to the main mission "When plans complement each other" starts. This is the final point of no return. However, the game explicitly warns you before you start it.

Dire Wolf's Remorse

You get the side quest automatically after a story mission and, apart from its use for the secret ending, it is highly recommended:

In this mission you will first be given the task of collecting statuettes. To get to them, you have to defeat bosses called fighters in different places in the world and use their essences on blocked paths in the crossroads. Afterwards you will get a lot of exciting lore information in the lighthouse and then meet an important person at the intersection.

What's crucial is that this character voluntarily gives you a key item that gives you another dialogue option at the very end of the game.

In the following paragraph we have linked you to a guide in which you can find out how to convince the person. But since her name is already a spoiler, we recommend that you only access the article once you have already met her.

First Mysterious Circle in Arlathan Forest

ImArlathan-WaldYou first have to solve a large-scale puzzle in which you align the light rays from golden old elf devices so that they point to the pillars of a central island. To do this you have to walk across the section of the area and climb a little.

Finally, you unlock a bridge that takes you to a previously inaccessible ruin. There you first meet an enemy and can then collect the first strangely glowing orb and listen to a mysterious voice. At the same time you unlock a codex entry.

Second Mysterious Circle in the Halls of the Necropolis

If you explore the halls of the necropolis, you will come across a large locked gate where you can complete the mission "Restless spirits". If you complete this, you will have to deal with a high-level boss. You can then collect the second orb in his arena, but only after you have defeated him.

The orb is in an alcove in the southwest of the room near other treasures. When you pick it up, the voice speaks to you a second time and you get another codex entry.

Third mysterious circle in the intersection

In order to reach the location where the last orb was found, a lot of preparatory work is necessary, because you can only get there through the quest "The Heart of Depravity", which you get in the crossroads. It works in a very similar way to "Remorse of the Dire Wolf":

You have to defeat bosses again in different places and use their essences in an initially blocked passage.

At the very end of the mission you will reach a new area where a big boss fight awaits you.Tipp:Closes before "Dire Wolf's RemorseIf you convince the person you talk to at the end of the quest, the boss fight in "The Heart of Depravity" will not only be easier, but also win in terms of staging.

Once the enemy has been defeated, you have to collect the last orb, which is a little hidden behind the boss fight arena. You have to take the stairs up behind the boss battle arena and then jump up a ledge on the left to find him. You hear the voice again and get the third codex entry.

Play the end and secure the trophy

Now you are ready to start the finale and should experience the additional scene after the credits. If you have already completed the game and missed the secret ending, you can simply click on “Continue” in the main menu.

You will then end up back at the point of no return and can catch up on what you missed. You will also get the trophy "The storm, conquered".

The following section contains spoilers. You can watch the scene in the video there and we will explain it to you.

This is what the secret Veilguard ending means

Warning: the following paragraph contains spoilers

The short scene can be really confusing, especially for Dragon Age newcomers, and mixes up a lot of well-known lore for fans in just about a minute. Anyone who is well versed in the history of the series can conclude the following from the teaser:

The mysterious voice we heard while picking up the orbs belongs to another mysterious faction in Thedas: the Executers. This group had not previously appeared in The Veilguard, but it was already mentioned in Inquisition and it also appeared in the short story collection Tevinter Nights.

The images in the secret scene show key moments from earlier parts of the series and suggest that the Executers were involved in the background and influenced important actors and antagonists in some way. What exactly the big master plan behind it is - we will most likely find out in another game.
