Fun gameplay, eye -opening graphics and memorable stories are often mentioned first when we talk about milestones in game history. No wonder, after all, these are the three elements that are often the most concise in the foreground.
The sound and the music of a game are also no less important. Often it is even certain titles that let us think about it years after the experience of a game. A certain piece has dug into our ears so much that we will probably not forget it until the end of every day.
The music of Monkey Island still enchants us today
We agree in the GamePro editorial team-the theme of Monkey Island is the best video game track ever. Well, at least two of us think that and everyone else we have accused a three -person monkey to eat. You don't understand the allusion? Then read on!
The South Sea melody from Michael Land brings pretty much everyone and every privateer out there to grin, simply ensure a good mood and miss an earwig before we can say "pirate treasure". If you have lived under a stone in the Caribbean in the past 35 years, you should listen to the theme now at the latest - we have the right place with oneXmarked (but also embedded below).

"You fight like a cow!"
Of course, there is much more in the Monkey Island series than a fantastic soundtrack. But we first sail back to 1990 when the legendary point and click adventure saw the light of day.
The game was developed by Ron Gilbert, who was for- the first part of the series - but still supported Tim Schafer and Dave Grossman. The game was particularly convincing with his humor, great puzzles and likeable characters.
Above all, the three-way team from the naive wannabe pirate Guybrush Treepwood, his great love Elaine Marley and the dreaded pirate captain Lechuck were very enthusiastic. But supporting characters such as the Voodoo Lady Corina or the eccentric seller Stanman are particularly remembered.
With our game figure Guybrush, we not only solved genetically (very creative) puzzles, but also contested legendary insulting duels and, for example, and we have also contested legendary insulting duels and one or the other NPC with the saying "behind you today as a running gag, a three-member monkey!" distracted. Or at least tried.
A year after the first part, the successor followed, also developed by Gilbert, Schafer and Grossman.
In contrast to the first part, the sequel could not celebrate a great success and sold just 25,000 times. Gilbert left Lucasfilm Games and Schafer like Grim Fandango, while Grossman worked on Day of the Tentacle.
However, the series continued: 1997 appeared withA third part that was created without the help of Gilbert and his team. 2000 followedbefore the series 2009for the time being found a new home. The fifth part was developed by Telltale Games and sold by Daedalic.
A surprising comeback
After that it got quiet for a while. The new editions of the first parts appeared as a special edition, but it should last until 2022, i.e. 13 years old for the title figure Guybrush Threepwood to go back to adventure.
The announcement ofNot only came as a surprise, but also with prominent support - Ron Gilbert and Dave Grossman returned as a developer.
In the trailer you get an insight into the latest part of the series:
The return of the Monkey Island verdes also had a noticeable consequences, because the story ignored all releases according to part 2 and instead made it directly at the end.
The actual sequel thus caught 31 years after Lechuck's Revenge. But like colleague Dennis inQuite quoted correctly:"Point & click continuations are never too late, just as little too early. They appear exactly when they intend." - Lechuck, the gray.
