Blue Lock is probably one of the most popular football anime alongside Captain Tsubasa and Inazuma Eleven. The series was known for its top-notch animation in the first season. The shock was even greater when, at the start of the second season, fans received a large number of still images or even moments that were very reminiscent of the transitions in PowerPoint.
But the animation team behind Blue Lock didn't let this slip-up get them down and helped the popular anime achieve further success. With the release of the final episode of the second season, the team made a big comeback for the series: UpIMDbThe episode received a rating of 9.5 out of 10 points.
From one of the worst episodes to one of the best rated episodes of the year
Blue Lock had a difficult start to its second season, as the second episode, “The Assassin and the Ninja,” severely disappointed fans of the series with several still images, substandard-looking transitions, and generally poor animation. After all, the first season of the football anime was known for its incredibly epic animations. The disastrous episode also receives a low rating of 6/10 on IMDb.

It is all the more surprising for anime fans and viewers of the series that the second season was able to pick itself up again and one of the best-rated anime episodes of 2024 has now been published.
The final episode “Last Attack” of Blue Lock Season 2 ended with a cliffhanger, teasing one of the most important supporting characters in the future plot - and delivering animations praised by the community along the way.
The animation studio Studio eightbit showed that the “PowerPoint presentation” was fortunately only an exception. Finally, the animations in the last episode are a world away from the bad scenes in episode 2.

The 14th episode of Blue Lock Season 2 is said to have even received a top rating of 10/10 on IMDB upon release, before the score dropped to the current 9.5/10. X user @JohnnySpittin published a post about the perfect rating of the final episode on December 30, 2024, which you can view here:

You can stream the two current seasons of Blue Lock on Crunchyroll. All 38 episodes are also set to music in German. A third season has not yet been announced, but since the second season ended with a teaser of an important character from the manga, it is safe to assume that there will be another season to come.
