Coming out in just over two months. In order to sweeten our waiting time, Ubisoft is currently publishing not only community posts that give us more insight into the combat system. Some developers also held a question-and-answer session on RedditAsk Me Anythingor called AMA for short. They revealed some interesting details, such as the duration of the game.
The playing time of AC Shadows is based on the other RPG offshoots
Ubisoft has already confirmed in the past that. Conversely, does that also mean that the playing time is also based on the Egypt branch?
Yes and no. In the AMA, Creative Director Jonathan Dumont addressed the question of playing time and compared the length of the main story with that of Origins, but also with that of Odyssey and Valhalla:
"Play time length is always difficult to estimate in an open world game, as different players use the content in very different ways. I think the main journey of Shadows is comparable to Origins/Odyssey and Valhalla."
The latest community post about Shadows, just mentioned, showed more about the combat system:
If Dumont had limited himself to Origins, the calculation would be simple. LoudHowLongToBeatWe need a good 30 hours for the story of the Egypt part. Since Dumont also compares Shadows with Odyssey and Valhalla and doesn't give exact numbers, the result is a larger spectrum.
Excluding the DLCs and side activities, the three role-playing parts have the following average times for the main story:
- Origins Main Story:30 hours
- Odyssey main story:46 hours
- Valhalla Main Story:61 hours
The playing time of Assassin's Creed Shadows is somewhere in between and should last a good 45 hours on average.
With all the side missions and extras, we can probably quickly reach the 100-hour mark. But we won't know for sure until Assassin's Creed Shadows is released on February 14, 2025 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC.
You can find out which Assassin's Creed game lasts the longest or has the largest game world in our rankings linked above. We're excited to see where Shadows will ultimately fit in.
How long do you think the story and a 100% playthrough of Assassin's Creed Shadows will ultimately take? Do you even want an approximate game length like that of the RPG parts?
