News - The Order: 1886: That is why there was no sequel in the end

In 2015 Sony the Order released: 1886 for PlayStation 4, but a successor did not receive the exclusive game. Why actually?

The somewhat older among us probably still remember the title The Order: 1886, which was published by Sony in 2015 exclusively for PlayStation 4. The cinematic adventure was developed with its immersive single player campaign by Ready at Dawn, which, however, did not get a chance to implement a sequel to the old historical London. Why actually?

In an interview with Andrea Pessino, the co-founder of Ready at Dawn has now commented on this question. Accordingly, less the sales figures of the game are said to have played a role.

"I don't think it was the sales figures - I think it was more the critical reception," said Pessino. "Sony is a very proud group and right.

With the 70s, Pessino refers to the Metacritic score from The Order: 1886, who settled on average 63 after the launch. The players took up the title less well than the press review suggests, because in tests the game cut off quite well.

If there had been a sequel, it would have come onto the market in 2018 - at least if everything had run according to plan. The sequel might also have been more ambitious, because Pessino also admitted that many innovative and demanding segments of the game finally became Cinematics: "One of the problems was that so much had to be cut. Many of the subtle narrative parts were lost and things were lost and things , who should have been interactive, became more of a film, "continued the developer's co-founder.

In order to be able to implement The Order: 1886 of the actual planning accordingly, you would have needed another year of development, "this is reality," concludes Pessino. However, this was not admitted.
