The free-to-play launch of the MOBA sequel Smite 2 now has a concrete start date - and it's already close!

Smite 2 will soon be entering free open beta! As has now been announced, the latest chapter of the third-person action MOBA will begin in mid-January, as the free-to-play launch has now been scheduled for January 14, 2025.

Smite 2 had previously been through an alpha test phase since 2024 - compared to its predecessor with new modes, characters and more. Now the makers want to take the next step with the sequel to the MOBA Smite, released in 2014.

Smite 2 has been fundamentally updated and revised; Above all, the focus is on a modern technical basis in the form of Unreal Engine 5. As part of the alpha, players initially had the choice between 14 different gods as characters, and this selection should be available until the end of January 2025 after the free-to-play Launch but grow to almost 50.

In keeping with the free-to-play launch date, such a new god, Aladdin, was also announced, which will be available on the same date. He is considered a magical assassin and jungler, can run along walls and set traps for opponents with his lamp.

A new 3v3 game mode called Joust will also be introduced in the open beta. There is a new map for this, which can also be used in the 1v1 Duel mode.
