Does anyone remember Resistance? The shooter series from Insomniac Games, which never became a hit but found many loyal fans? Well, the future still doesn't look rosy.
It is not the case that Insomniac Games would have too much boredom. After the extremely successful Spider-Man games, the upcoming Marvel's Wolverine and reports, the studio should be well fully booked. A name that no longer appears is resistance.
We remember: In an alternative version of the world, an alien breed called Chimera attacks the earth. The Chimera are not conventional aliens, but a mixture of alien and human DNS. The series begins with "Resistance: Fall of Man" and accompanies Nathan Hale, an American soldier who fights Chimera in a Europe conquered. The plot develops during the games, and various perspectives and characters are introduced against the Chimera.
Overall, three full-fledged games and two spin-offs for handheld platforms appeared from 2006 to 2012. After that, despite good reviews, the series disappeared from fans and critics in the sinking. Ted Price from Insomniac has now commented on the Kinda Funny Gamecast why there was no resistance 4, although the studio would have liked to work on it.
"Resistance 4. We pitched it and it was a wonderful concept. It only worked in relation to timing and market opportunities. But it was the result of the passion of many Insomnia team members to continue history," said Price. However, Sony refused to release and thus sealed it from the series.
"If you work on a franchise for a long time, it is nice to have the opportunity to go over to something else. At the same time, it is also nice to come back to it. Since we belong to Sony and Sony has intellectual property of resistance, we will Fortunately, always have the opportunity to pick up resistance again ". So Price does not rule out that the brand could be picked up again at some point, but after 13 years of silence, the chances are probably not good.
