Anyone who had the idea of switching to the PS5 Pro in November and taking their fancy PS5 faceplates with them could be looking in the wrong direction, according to the latest information.
The PS5 Pro will be released on November 7th and based on the pre-orders there are apparently quite a few people switching. However, there is bad news for them, at least if they were hoping to implement the custom faceplates, which are available separately, from the old console to the Pro variants.
It has now been confirmed that the PS5 faceplates are not compatible with the PS5 Pro. The information appeared firstRedditwhere a user who had the opportunity to try out the conversion described his experiences.
This is what it says: "I can confirm that the lower plates match the Slim. However, the upper plates do not match because although they are physically the same size, the teeth that connect to the system are located at slightly different locations Therefore you cannot connect the upper part."
Sony has now confirmed to colleagues at IGN that the bezels are not compatible, but also mentioned that colored covers are also planned for the PS5 Pro in the future.
Not necessarily the nicest move to change the connections so that the old faceplates can no longer be used, especially since the console is already expensive enough. However, the changed inner workings of the Pro may well have meant that the change was necessary.
It's official, the new PS5 Pro will be released on November 7th with a more powerful GPU, AI upscaling and 2TB SSD.
