The Game Awards are like full diapers - something is leaking everywhere. A leaked video reveals information about the new Mafia part ahead of time.
If there's one thing that's certain, it's that something always goes wrong before the Game Awards and information that was intended for the big event gets leaked. A trailer for Mafia: The Old Country has apparently appeared prematurely as a pre-roll on YouTube and, as would hardly be expected, an eager user has discovered it and now it is spreading like wildfire.
Apparently this is a short teaser of 16 seconds and not really a full-fledged trailer. The clip was filmed directly from the monitor and shows some short action sequences with a fairly young-looking male figure who slides for cover, shoots and rides a horse.
What is much more important, however, is that the end credits limit the release period of the game. Previously only announced for 2025, you can now read a clear “Summer 2025” along with the note that the game can be wishlisted immediately (i.e. from the Game Awards).
This allows for some interesting speculation regarding upcoming titles from Take-Two aka 2K and Rockstar. With the release of Civilization VII in February and GTA 6 in the fall (if it stays that way), the summer is now covered and it raises the exciting question of when Borderlands 4 should appear. Because Take-Two should avoid cannibalizing its own titles as much as possible and the same period as GTA 6 should not be a sensible option.
Whatever the case, Mafia: The Old Country will transport you to Sicily in the 1900s, where you can experience the beginnings of the legendary criminal organization.
