Microsoft taps into the Sony trap and calls for the use of a Microsoft account at Forza Horizon 5 on the PS5.
In the past few months, Sony has had a few shitstorms, because in PC versions of the previous Playstation titles, the use of a PSN account was also prerequisite on Steam. This came across harsh criticism, at least in the case of Helldivers 2, one rowed back. Competitor Microsoft could now suffer similar criticism.
As is known, he recently announced a PS5 implementation of Forza Horizon 5, which is to be released in April. However, the additional registration for a Microsoft account and the link with this prerequisite on the Sony console is also a prerequisite in order to play the racing game. This now emerges from the official FAQ.
If the racing game appears for the PS5 on April 29, you will have to pair your PS5 with a Microsoft account in order to start Forza Horizon 5. In addition to the use of your PSN accounts on the Sony console, the requirement is required. The registration process for the Microsoft account is initiated at the first start of the game.
If you already have a Microsoft account for multiplayer xbox games like Sea of Thieves, you will still have to go through the procedure especially for Forza Horizon 5. Although a link can also be solved later, Microsoft points out that the same game - in this case Forza Horizon 5 - can only be linked again later with the same Microsoft account; A change of the Microsoft account will not be possible.
