News - EVE Vanguard: New test event for the sci-fi shooter has started

CCP Games has given the starting signal for a new, public test event for the upcoming sci-fi shooter EVE Vanguard.

The new test event is called “Groundbreak” and started yesterday, Thursday; This will now run until December 9, 2024. Those interested can gain access using free codes available viaDiscordand available to Omega subscribers.

The event features of the new test phase are officially stated as follows:

  • Manufacturing and upgrades– Players receive fragments of blueprints to purchase on the blueprint market. These allow them to use the resources gained from their missions to craft weapon chipsets and equipment for future missions.
  • Deployment map and map variants– On the deployment map, players can now navigate to a variety of different and varied planets, each with their own environmental factors, activities, contracts, enemies and resources. However, you should choose the planets you head to carefully - some planets can be more difficult without help or the right equipment.
  • Resource mining– There are multiple ways to collect resources in the world once they are deployed. The new cutting tool is now available in the loadout; Players can craft and equip mining crystals to harvest certain minerals and upgrade their equipment.
  • Activities- Smuggling, Salvaging, Mining Rights - Players will find a variety of activities in the world to participate in: helping to smuggle contraband, securing salvages, and more.
  • New Eden's never-ending war– When uprisings appear in EVE Online, they will also appear in EVE Vanguard. When an uprising is active, this is displayed on the deployment map and players can choose whether they want to fight for the pirates or the empire in a 9v9 battle. They fight for control of the orbital cannons on the ground, where the victors create corruption or oppression, depending on the team.
  • Cross-game digital rewards- Players will receive in-game loot boxes, EVE Online ship SKINs, and an EVE Vanguard weapon skin.

The ground battles in the sci-fi shooter have lasting consequences, including the conflicts between the parties in space in the main game EVE Online. The Groundbreak event aims to further deepen these connections between the two games.

EVE Vanguard is scheduled to launch on Steam in 2025, initially as part of an early access model.

At the start of the next test phase there is also a new trailer for EVE Vanguard.
