On Dragon Age Day today, BioWare announced that in the future you will be able to create characters for Dragon Age: The Veilguard without or outside of the main game. Because: A free and independent editor will be published for this purpose on all platforms.

As soon as the tool is available, you can download it free of charge and create your desired characters yourself before purchasing or starting the role-playing game for the first time. If you buy Dragon Age: The Veilguard, you can transfer the characters you created into the game. The only requirement for this is that you have to be on the same platform. So you can't create a character on the PC and then use it on the PS5 or Xbox Series X/S.

Otherwise, BioWare says: "There is no time limit for the character editor; we know that it can take hours to create the perfect protagonist."

Another goodie that was announced was that you can use the armor, skin color and more of Hawke, the protagonist in Dragon Age II. These cosmetic options will be available permanently; The starting signal is given by downloading Patch 4 and completing the mission “The Singing Blade”.
