Black Myth: Wukong didn't win the title of Game of the Year, but the fun action role-playing game still found some fans. However, the title is currently only available on PlayStation 5 and the PC, and Xbox gamers are currently on the fence. According to a post from the game director, this is likely to stay that way for a long time.
Sun Wukong's journey began on August 20, 2024 on PlayStation 5 and PC; in the first few weeks, Black Myth: Wukong sold over 20 million copies, according to the Game Science studio. An incredible commercial success that even has someset up.
But fans are still missing one thing today: a version on the Xbox Series X and S. In the past, the studio always stated that further technical optimizations were necessary. So it's not a time-exclusive deal with Sony that prevents the release on Microsoft's console.
Now the game director Feng Ji has spoken out with a post in which he names the problems in more detail: the Xbox Series S. According to him, several years of experience in the area of optimization are needed to address the technical shortcomings of the "little sister" of the series X to compensate.
Specifically, he names the shared ten gigabyte storage of the Xbox Series S as the villain. The team is working hard to get Black Myth: Wukong to work properly on the console, but it's not easy.
This shouldn't come as a surprise, as the game doesn't run without heavy upscaling technologies on PlayStation 5. Otherwise the sometimes incredibly chic look would probably not be possible. At least you can now look forward to an optimization for the PlayStation 5 Pro.
