Microsoft has long since completed an Xbox Game Store for Android - and doesn't want to publish it

With the Xbox app for Android you can manage your games on a linkedInstall and stay in touch with friends.

In October, Xbox executive Sarah Bond confirmedTwitter/Xthat Microsoft wants to expand the app. Players should be able to buy and play games for the console via the Xbox app.

OnBlueSkySarah Bond revealed this week that the feature was ready, but would not be delivered by Microsoft at this time.

Due to a temporary stay recently granted by the courts, we are currently unable to roll out these features as planned. Our team has finalized the features and we are ready to release the update immediately after the court's final decision.

This is the background:Google was obliged by a judge in the USA to allow other payment methods and systems in the Android store from November 1, 2024. With an interim injunction, Google managed to stop the implementation until the court made a decision on the objection.

Microsoft could release the update, but would then pay part of the money raised to Google for using Google Play Billing.

Good to know:Google charges 15 percent of sales to use the payment system. For sales of one million dollars or more, the commission increases to 30 percent.

According to Sarah Bond, Microsoft plans to release the update for the Xbox app immediately after the verdict. The release is initially planned in the USA. Other countries will follow later.

Google told oppositeThe Vergethat no one would stop Microsoft from releasing the update. It would be Microsoft's choice not to do so. In addition, a negative decision would limit Google's ability to offer a safe user experience.

A final verdict is not expected until 2025.

Now you are asked. Do you use the Xbox app for Android or perhaps an app for another console. What do you think about the ability to buy games directly via an app? Feel free to write us a comment.
