Although I have a keyboard with a rotary wheel to regulate the volume, I often solve this with a mouse and via the volume symbol of Windows and slider. The simple reason: I usually have the mouse in my hand anyway and therefore feel that I was faster.
However, I would have had almost three in the meantimeYearsWith the on-board agents of Windows, thousands of clicks can saveIf I consider how often I adapt the volume a day.
- Conservatively, I change the volume at least five times a day and rather more frequently, be it in meetings, watching a video or listening to music.
- If I assume about 210 working days a year, there are over 2,000 clicks in one year alone: 210 (working days) x 5 (volume adjustments) x 2 (clicks per adaptation: One to open the sliding controller for the volume and then another for changing the volume) = 2.100 clicks.
- Thanks to an innovation of Windows 11, which was introduced in September 2022 with the Windows version 22H2 for the volume symbol, none of these clicks is necessary:
❗es now is enough to be with the mouse pointer above the volume symbol and turn the mouse wheel to adapt the volume in Windows❗
In the following, you can see what this looks like in comparison to before:
This can be solved long ago using additional software
This small but fine change in Windows's on-board funds makes me very happy. The volume is adjusted immediately, so you do not have to wait until the detail indicator is displayed with the exact percentage.
Regardless of this, comparable functions have been retrofitted for Windows for three years, as I have again found at work on this article.
So there is the tired tool to this dayVolumouseEven for over 20 years. In the meantime, it has been supplemented with additional functions such as changing the brightness.
Speaking of Windows over 20 years ago:If you are in the mood for a little journey through time, we would be happy to take Windows's starting sounds at our following quiz:
As an alternative to the volume control via software, I also do this by griping to the right wheel on my headset.
However, I tend to leave the volume here as low as possible and prefer to increase it under Windows, because in my experience (and also according to the manufacturer's recommendation), the sound remains the best.
Finally, a note on the information:In my experience, each Scroll level always ensures a lifting or lowering of the volume by two percent. That was always the case here on different computers and even after adapting the general mouse bike settings.
Let me know in the comments whether you already knew the function, how to adapt the volume under Windows and whether you have other potentially practical tips in this way!
