Rambo, Rocky and Cliffhanger. Sylvester Stallone starred in some of the best action films of the 80s and 90s.

Even at the age of 78, the actor is still in front of the camera and chases after the bad guys in big action scenes. His most recent projects can be criticizedbut no longer convincing.

Crime action in armor

The film was released in American cinemas and on video on demand on November 22, 2024. The project will land in Germany fromFebruary 7, 2025only in home cinemas - digitally or as DVD and Blu-Ray.

What is Armor about?A father-son duo fights with a group of criminals over an armored car containing mysterious goods. A bitter fight for the loot ensues.

The reviews

OnRotten TomatoesIn addition to the 0 percent from critics, the film received 33 percent from viewers. In the film databaseIMDbThe project is also not entirely convincing and only gets 3.5 stars.

Specifically, the critics say about the film:

As sloppy as that logic is, Armor could have been fun if there was more humor or if the modest action bits had been executed with a little more oomph. Instead, we're all too aware that we're stuck on a bridge with a bunch of cantankerous posers, not knowing why no other cars are coming by to notice the blocked roadway. (ViaVariety)

Screenwriters Cory Todd Hughes and Adrian Speckert fail to create a single plausible line of dialogue throughout the film, and each actor seems limited to a finite list of words they can utter. Added to this is the bizarre soundtrack, which fades out a song in several places and immediately switches to another. (ViaJoBlo)

Agenten-Action in the Wings

In the USA, the action film will be released in cinemas and as video-on-demand on January 17, 2025. A release for Germany iscurrently not known.

What is Alarum about?Joe (Scott Eastwood) and Lara (Willa Fitzgerald) lead double lives as agents. When members of the old guard mistakenly believe they have joined an elite team of renegade spies, they must fight for their survival.

The reviews

It's currently upRotten Tomatoesonly the critic score, which is 0 percent. OnIMDbWith 3.4 stars, the work performs a little worse than Armor.

Specifically, the critics say about the film:

Set in rural Ohio rather than rural Poland, Alarum is paced enough to distract the viewer, despite occasional lulls. But the film is never exciting, exciting, complicated or funny enough to fully involve the viewer from the start. (ViaVariety)

The biggest surprise - and not exactly a pleasant one - that Alarum has to offer comes during the opening credits, when it is revealed that this nonsense was directed by Michael Polish, who once made such bizarre, fascinating and unclassifiable indie films. (ViaRoger Ebert)

A reboot is currently underway for one of Sylvester Stallone's classics. In Cliffhanger, the 78-year-old played a member of the mountain rescue team in the Rocky Mountains. In the remake, however, the action legend is replaced by Mamma Mia actress Lily James and the former James Bond, Pierce Brosnan. You can find out more about this in the article linked above.
