The expectations ofwere enormous. But after its release, the condition of the game initially caused heated discussions.
Three large construction sites in particular are the focus of criticism:the implementation of the A-Life system, serious performance problems and numerous quest bugs. GSC Game World has now published a statement that at least takes the community's concerns seriously - even if many questions remain unanswered.
The great promise that is still a long time coming
The A-Life system was supposed to be one of Stalker 2's key selling points: It should make the zone come alive, with NPCs pursuing their own activities and an ecosystem that exists independently of the player.
But many players complain that A-Life is currently either severely limited or simply non-existent.
The fans are still divided– some people think that in Stalker 2 there is only onesimples Spawn-System
ensures what little life there is in the zone. Others are a little more optimistic and say that A-Life is in the game, but many features seem to be disabled or bugged.
Modders have found clues about the mechanics in the code, but what is actually active remains unclear.
GSC itself sees the issue as one of its main priorities. In a statement on Discord, community manager Mol1t explained:

A-Life is one of our main topics. Other things are still under discussion. We can't share exact details until we're 100 percent sure we'll implement it. Topics such as mutant balance, day-night cycles and economics are being examined, but since we obviously have serious bugs - like with A-Life, optimization and quest issues - these are a higher priority.
In addition to A-Life, technical problems in particular are causing ongoing criticism in the community. Stalker 2 is known to suffer from massive frame rate drops for many players, especially on the Xbox Series S, but even high-end PCs are not spared from stuttering and instabilities.
There are also various quest bugs that mean that missions cannot be completed - for example because doors don't open or you get involved in endless dialogues where only Alt+F4 helps.
The next few weeks and months will show whether the developers can turn things around. Until then, many fans can only wait for the announced updates - and hope that the zone will soon become as lively as it should be. GSC Gameworld has not yet announced exactly when the promised patch will appear.
